     Are his 15 minutes over yet?*
     
     
     *Not to mention the footnotes .....
     
     
     
     Answer:  Negative, despite the article in today's NYT, p. B9, 
     Education Section, entitled, "Footnotes Offering Fewer Insights."  The 
     piece, about the decline of the use of footnotes in scholarly pubs, 
     cites the longest footnote found in something called "The History of 
     Norhtumberland" by John Hodgson published in 1840.  It clocked in at 
     165 pages.  Drool, drool, DFW...
