     I would do a group GR(ope), Andrew, by the way.  A communal effort 
     might be the only way I'd get through it, given my poor track record.  
     (Been trying for about 10 years now and haven't gotten past page 55.)
     
     It may be of interest to you all to learn that I'm in the process of 
     percolating my new-improved theory of _V_.  I wonder, though, before I 
     make an ass of myself by posting it to the list, what others have had 
     to to say:  I am waaay out of the loop on Pynchon litcrit.  Any 
     suggested readings?  (Being a librarian, I suppose I could just look 
     this up for myself, but we cultivate laziness here and it's 
     summertime...)
