GR read

I recently started reading GR and was fortunate to stumble
on this list.
I was a Classics major in college interested in the epics
by Homer, Virgil, Lucan, et al., and "modern" ones:
Milton, Joyce, etc.
Also regarding the "ancient" authors it's amazing to see
many modern ideas: Lucretius and his atoms, Homer and
entropy (I'll try to defend this later).
I'm not sure if Pynchon was aware of the classics, but I
am always interested in their universal ideas.
Is there any ancient Greek or Latin in GR?

BTW: Yes, I'm a computer programmer now. Translating tombstones
doesn't pay.
