Seems that some foax on the right, or in the anti-feminist camp, or
whatever, are mighty thin-skinned.
My comments are hostile toward Camille Paglia. Sorry if she's important
to you, but if we all held back from saying negative things about anyone
who is highly controversial but who might have a fan in the Pynchon list,
I think the soup would get a bit thin.
Sorry you don't like my .sig. Don't hold your breath for me to change
it, though. Even when I am happily trashing Camille Paglia, it expresses
my sincere good intentions toward the people I'm addressing.
>If all you can do w/ Paglia is approve of people who want
>to censure her, or punch her out,
I don't approve of anyone getting punched out, and didn't say so. As for
censure, Paglia is herself about as censorious as they come and I think
she can take her lumps without your defense.
>make sure you acknowledge that it's not done in the spirit of cheer.
Sorry, see above. And go have a beer, or smoke a joint, or whatever you
do to relax. I didn't attack you, I just think Paglia's an asshole, as
Molly Ivins said.
>And she wasn't at a *feminist panel* when it
>happened, she was giving a talk she'd been invited to give to the general
>public.
It was at a feminist panel that someone tried to talk about Paglia, and
was apparently not treated with great respect. That's what I was talking
about, as you would have realized if you had actually read what I
actually wrote, instead of flying off the handle.
Take a break. Eat some turkey, and be thankful to someone for something.
Cheers,
David
