Rather disingenuous, I think. Paglia is an "asshole?" Not quite a 
squelch, but it doesn't exactly encourage discussion, "sir."  I don't recall 
anyone on the list coming close to such an inarticulate, ad hominum, 
dare I say un if not anti-academic squelch. Your "So what are we
supposed to do with our opinions?  Are they not legitimate, while 
Paglia's are entitled to some sort of special consideration?" reminds me 
of the people who call equal rights for minorities "preferred treatment."
