What an education this thread is providing!

I guess even those interested in Pynchon have the right to be assholes, but I 
sure wish they'd take it somewhere else....  This thread is way off-topic, 
rather banal, and not worth the electrons killed to transmit it.

Can we cut this thread, or at least take it private?  I concede that each of 
yours is bigger or deeper than mine (as biologically appropriate).  So you 
win.  Is that satisfactory?
