Don't get all het up about exotic species.. sure, it goes on with more
frequency nowadays (cue the Dinsey castrati chorus "It's a small world,
after all"), but it's been happening since we started wandering around with
our dogs'n'rats'n'cats'goats'n'sheep and other critters and herbiage.

There's quite a bit of evidence of such in archaeological ethnobotany
& palynology....
