Quite right. But understand, the multinational timber companies importing
the shiploads of logs contaminated with pathogens that threaten to wipe out
our Douglas-fir forests, Monterrey pines and red maples, are the same
companies (i.e, Weyerhaeuser, ITT Rayonier, International Paper (the
Rockefeller's timber company) and Georgia-Pacific (plunderers of the
redwoods in Vineland country) which are slashing and burning these primary
forests in Indonesia, Chile, southern Mexico, Siberia and Brazil--leaving a
wake of destruction, extinction, and genocide in their path. Everybody pays
for this kind of brazen and ruthless economic colonialism. It is a movement
from the localized tyranny of the state to the global tyranny of the
corporation.
