IMHO DBH gets TRP and GR down better than most. 

Wouldn't go so far as to say the "social commentary" is not "interesting" 
Not "profound"
I'd agree.  But, that war is business, business war, and all the rest ARE
inherently interesting,
if not original. Without something of this order, Pynch wouldn't have had
so much to display his
writing technique and skill on. And WE wouldn't have had a GR.

But the anti-war and anti-capitalism themes are serving the writer and the
book, not vice versa.
