Tea with TP

Last night between the hours of say 2am and gehenna, I somehow had TP
over for tea with the folks on their Long Island estate consisting of a
backyard, redwood picnic setting, Suffolk County ways, my mom freely
dispensing wine and potato croquets, Chrissie arrived first, I expectant
over finally meeting the man, but my first glimpse is not him, but his
Topps playing card, outfielder for the Baltimore Orioles (think of a real
skinny Boog Powell), with the moniker "Thomas Pynchomania". I had to ask
him later, he was shockingly blond like some Patrick Swayze surfer dude,
how did he change his name, and how good was he hittin that breaking
pitch. Well, my sis was there and we commented to each other how well
the folks got on with TP and Chrissie, as I said to my sis, them being so
liberal, and his kids running around too, making mischief but strangely
well-behaved. Just a nice bucolic Sunday afternoon shootin breeze
between old friends.
