Vineland

I am an undergrad doing a senior thesis on "Vineland"'s view of how history
works,  of the culture of the 1980s (the War on Drugs, Tubal reality, death
put on hold), the Movement of the Sixties and where it got us, the
interplay of the Left and Right, "secret retributions" and how any of this
connects to Pynchon's earlier fascination with Henry Adams, and the book's
California setting as explored earlier in "Lot 49" and "Inside the Mind of
Watts."  Anyone have any insights?

Secondly, is it true that the manuscript of "Mason & Dixon" is like 1000
pages long?
