True.
The mild disappointment I felt with the Introduction to SL
was that the experiences related and lessons learned seemed
rather generic. Like the sort that would befall any young writer
learning his trade. In no way did they explain the extraordinary
writing we find in the novels.
No doubt once again I deserve the famous retort of Mrs. Nussbaum: "You
vere ekshpecting maybe _Lessie_?" (p. 44, GR, Viking ed.)
