Jumpin jehosephat!  how could anyone think it was not baseball?  after all, 
this is Pynchon of the Berkshire Slothrops we're talking about.  a--and 
baseball is the perfect sport for paranoids...most of the time, whats 
happening is all about whats *not* happening, and when things *do* happen, 
they pivot the entire game around...
