LA Weekly and Underwoods

I just joined the list several weeks ago after I was informed that the LA
Weekly did a front cover story on the Thomas Pynchon/Wanda Tinasky
controversy (Dec 28 edition). Being a long time fan of TP's work, I was
glad to find this group - it was mentioned (not by name) in the article.
Only until this weekend, however, did I actually get to read the article.

These letters by WT were news to me and I after hanging out on the
perimeter, I thought I would creep my head and ask where I might find any
previous discussion on the whole Wanda deal.

Several interesting bits came out of this article though. For example,
the author claims that Pynchon writes using an Underwood typewriter, not
a Smith-Corona as someone here mentioned. Also, Melanie Jackson said that
TP did not write these letters. While I'm prone to believe that He did
not write them, who ever did write them sure did one hell of a job in
duplicating pynchon themes. The one bit that comes to mind is the mention
that said Wanda lived under a bridge, and while this brigde was not
identified in the piece, the pictured bridge was an arched bridge,
recalling the hyperbolic trajectory of the V-2 rockets. Can you picture
him? And speaking of V-2, what else but a W (Wanda) to use in reference?

Anyway, I better stop now before this paranoid gets into a paranoid
situation.
