Being married to an avid reader helped.

I picked up V. and Lot 49 after _she_ had finished with
them. Liked both but don't recall discussing them. It
wasn't until the late 60s, after making the acquaintance of several
Cornellians who had been in school with Tom without knowing him
much, that he really caught my interest as someone to look out
for. After that I was a first-day buyer.

Am presently in the process of rereading V. Keep coming across things that
I think about through the years--but the source of which has, until
now, long since been blotted from consciousness. Must have been much affected
by the book the first time around.

Will reread Lot 49 next.
