*I* feel like one of them (and guilty, like every decent Puritan 
descendant), there's been days when I haven't found the time to  
read messages, let alone tha I could have contributed anything. 

But back to your question: there were 291 list members when I last did 
WHO PYNCHON-L a couple of months ago. My screen takes 17 at a time, so it 
was quite easy to count us.
