Fwd: The Works

I find the works to be (in published order):

1. Young

2. Dark

3. Big

4. Personal

I think that many artist progress through these phases, often

alternating between big and personal with a little experimental thrown

 in.

Every artist aspires to new heights in each and every work-seems to me I
read in Ellman's bio of Joyce that a colleague of his claimed this
distinction for Joyce and Joyce only (don't know if the progression above
would apply to JJ-Finnegans Wake Personal?) Even Pynchon doesn't have
this distinction IMHO-Vineland was not a earth shaker good as it is. Any
authors come to mind who might have this distinction?

BTW-Has anyone actually heard the Lotion CD?
