Robert Bruno finds:
"After
searching for the word string "Pynchon" in the Internet Movie Database
I came up with this tidbit: In the Lou Grant show (1977), the L.A.
Times (for which he was city editor) was owned by a "Mrs. Pynchon."

I don't interpret, I just find...(and don't ask me *why* I did the
search. bored I guess) . . . "

I was always intrigued by the this but saw no direct connection, except that
the show was more or less forced off the air because it dealt with uncomfortable
political themes (in tv-series terms, at least).

I do recall that the characters always made it a point to pronounce her name
"Mrs. PIN-chon" and that she had inherited the paper from her late husband,
Robert.
