	My impression is that it is the Great Spanish Novel, for the
focus is on the nature of life which endures internal pressures (I
mean the Inquisition, predominantly) and exterior pressures (that of
hounding the Moslem off the penisula.)  A short central section deals
with the acyivity that occurs in the New World, but it is largely
about the impact on Spain.
