Juan Cires is physicist, and PhD student at the Universidad Politecnica
de Madrid, Spain, working on artificial intelligence and robotics, and
was pretty much minding his own bussiness when a friend remarked that
COL49 would be a lot funnier than that Douglas Adams he was reading. A
few years later he happily purchased a copy of GR from the science
fiction section of a bookstore thinking that someone had finally written
a serious novel about Einsteins General Relativity Theory (it is still
largely unknown how that thought crept into Juan's cortex). The book
stood on the shelf for a few more years, intimidating poor Juan with its
size and a first page that didn't promise an easy and safe passage
through. One day he read past that first page and you can imagine the
rest of the story.
Besides that, he engages in photograpy, aikido, and is a fan of Real
Madrid, after being converted to the religion of football (that's soccer
for the sports challenged) by Butraguenyo and company. He is also a bit
mystified by John Roca's mention of "La Pasionaria" and is wondering wether
he refers to the late leader of the spanish comunist party, the insect
of the same name or an obscure rock band he hasn't heard of.
Saludos, Juan.
