Since I'm the guy who gets hag's flamethrusters reared up so often w/ what he
takes to be--religious--statements, just wanna toss in that the apocryphal epigraph
from the Gospel of Thomas in GR--
Dear Mom, I put a couple of people in Hell today
--got me interested in the gospel of Thomas (boy, that's some coincidence, with the
name thing and all, isn't it?) which I dug up and read, and the picture of Christ
presented there would even meet w/ your approval, hag old nun, And of course
the fact that the Catholic church (neither Roman, Greek, Coptic or any other I know
of) won't recognize Thomas's gospel as legitimate might indicate that
Pynchon's--redemption--of it, and perhaps his connection to the spirit, has nothing
to do with any church, or state, or state church or church/state or theme park.

ps Not even hinting at the question, best reserved for another list, that the church
functions by contradicting everything Christ said and did.
