DHALGREN

I read Dhalgren back in the summer of '76 when I was 18 and living
in a new city and it seemed incredibly powerful at the time, but I
doubt very much if I could get through more than a couple of chapters
without getting totally irritated now. I don't think Delany is a very
good writer and lately has tended to hide his clumsiness behind
secondhand post-structuralist wank (anyone who writes fantasy
novels with multiple appendices is not my kind of guy).

His early works are still pretty cool though --- especially
the stories in the DRIFTGLASS collection.
