I think that later it is somehow explained, maybe during the time spent at 
the casino, that Slothrop had changed the names but that the women were 
real such that when it was investigated the women were found but not 
realized to be the ones because of the differences in names.  It may have 
said something too about his motives in this but I don't remember.
