One of my fellow countrywomen, a friend of mine and a wizard on continental
philosophy, wrote her Ph.D. for SUNY-Binghamton. (Her tutor was this
Pynchomane, William Spanos.) She lived for a while in Ithaca, too. In a
house where Farina lived during his Cornell years. However, at that time
she did not know Pynchon yet. That's why she remained totally indifferent
to the things in the attic -- according to her there were still a lot of
Farina's belongings up there at the turn of the 80s. Needless to say, I
have, frequently and mercilessly, scolded her for her negligence. These
philosophers...
