V and the Recognitions

I am currently reading (slowly) the recognitions and have been struck by
the many similarities to Pynchon's later works, V and GR. The most specious
of which is a reference to a Baedeker travel book. I remember reading on
this list the fact that Pynchon (from what source I do not know) had not
read the recognitions prior to at least GR (much like I suppose DFW
hasn't/doesn't read/credit Pynchon). Lessee, Pynchon's around 18 when the
Recognitions comes out, goes to college and studies literature, becomes a
solid presence in the post-modern crowd and hasn't read Gaddis, uh, I don't
really think so, but who's to say. I would like to mention some of the
other coincidences in Gaddis/Pynchon, but I only have a fleeting
recollection.
By the way, I loved Richard Romeo's post on Gottfried Gilligan.
