Daffy Duck and the Upanishads

Somehting me and couple of writer friends were discussing over Guinness
earlier this week: I made the claim that what makes Pynchon and writers
of that ilk so great are the pop culture references along with major so
called hi-brow stuff. After skirting the issue somewhat I made the bold
claim that if TS Eliot was brought up further along in the 20th Century
he would be referencing Underdog's quest for Polly Pure-bread who was
fiendishly hidden by Riff Raff or some such within a hot-air baloon, 100
of which are floating nearby, fiendishly rigged up with individual record
players all shouting the same thing.."help me underdog, help...etc, etc,;
 only one has the real Polly..etc.etc.

Or poems written about the truest symbol of existential man-Wile E.
Coyote (Super-Genius) instead of Homer, and Ahab, and all that lot.

Maybe I should go get another beer

I fear I make no sense.

I thought it was pure

and then it moved.

oh well, don't mind the man behind the madness...
