Not directly related to V., Pynchon, or literature for that matter, but 
for a good read on the links between entropy in information theory and 
entropy in thermodynamics, try Tom Stonier's _Information and the internal 
Structure of the Universe_.  Don't worry, the book's short, and not quite 
as pretentious as the title.
