Vineland Remainders, prevalence of

C'mon, guys 'n' gals!  Here on the TRP list we can't accept boring
old humdrum rational explanations for the vast quantities of VL
remainders out there!!!  Surely we can imagine that there one 
aberrant copy, perhaps, with important info in it which is now
lost amidst a welter of deliberately manufactured detritus.
Or perhaps, as in the great Avram Davidson story "Or All the SeaS
With Oysters," the VL copies are a lifeform which later on 
develops ou its chrysalis into ???
Rise to the challenge!
