Hi all,

chris o. writes about a bit in _Infinite Jest_ that made him "howl
until he cried."

I'm glad someone is finding amusement in _IJ_.  I'm about halfway
through, and so far nary a chuckle.  I can't help contrasting this
to my first experience with _GR_, when I was laughing out loud
by page 7.

I'll reserve further judgment until I've actually finished _IJ_,
but I'm sure tempted to do the Lloyd Bentsen thing (was it Bentsen?):  
"David Foster Wallace, I've read Thomas Pynchon.  I know Thomas Pynchon.  
And you're no Thomas Pynchon."

(But then again, who else is?)
