On Pynchon and Borges

I was just rereading _GR_, and noticed a few more parallels between the 
two than the "Garden of the Forking Paths" thing that keeps coming up. 
Just though I'd mention them here. First, there's the whole Martin Fierro 
thing, which is a major theme in Borges. The other is the bit about TS's 
ancestor who belived that Judas was the savior of the common man, just as 
Jesus was the savior of the elite. Borges has done all sorts of stuff 
about that also. So, is he just parroting, or do you think that any of 
what he does on Fierro and Judas is his own invention/insight?
