Just to assure anybody who might have wondered lately: some of us are
NOT deeply into Infinite Jest. For example, I'm reading Bharati Mukherjee's
The Holder of the World at the moment.

What does it have to do with Pynchon? Nothing, except that on p. 60 I
was startled last night to read the following (about the novel's heroine):
"Her life is at the crossroads of many worlds. If Thomas Pynchon, perhaps one
of the descendents of her failed suitor [William Pynchon] had not already
written V., I would call her a V., a woman who was everywhere, the encoder of
a secret history."

                         Secret histories indeed,
                               Terry

P.S. I am not, nor have never been, Al Wang.
