Also just finished _The Moor's Last Sigh_. Great fan of Rushdie's, read
them all, and I think he's showing signs of strain in this book. His
belief in the Many as against the One is less absolute--if that's the
right word for a dedicated pluralist like Rushdie. On the other hand,
that very quality of exhaustion made his narrator-in-the-process-of-
disintegration (shades of Slothrop) far more credible than the very
similar one in _Midnight's Children_--to me, at least. Any other takes
on Rushdie? Or should we take ourselves of to the Rushdie list (is there
one?).
