group read

     Several of you responded positively to my suggestion that the list 
     engage in a group read.  The consensus was that we begin with _V._ and 
     see how it goes.  A good thing.
     
     Before we can start, though, I'd like to have a very clear sense of 
     who intends to participate.  And I don't mean to imply that anyone 
     would be excluded from joining in, I'd just like to know how many of 
     you will be actively reading with us.  Also, when would you like to 
     start?  Is this an easier thing to begin, say, in the fall, when those 
     of you in academe will be back on campus?  Or, is this a feasible 
     summer project?  Another thing -- I would like very much for us to 
     have someone act as our coach/moderator.  Is there someone willing to 
     share her/his expertise with us in this capacity?  I would be happy to 
     offer my services however they'd be useful -- but I am not the best 
     choice to drive the bus.
