I believe that Wm. Hurt's character's full name in _Smoke_ is "Paul 
Benjamin".  Now if memory serves, "Paul Benjamin" is a pseudonym which 
Auster has used at some point in time.

If I recall, I got this info from an Auster webpage...unfortunately I 
cannot recall the URL.
