Speaking of Smoke
Clear something up for me:
In "Smoke," the big "storytelling moment" between Auggie and Paul Benjamin takes
place in a deli and is shot with an excruciatingly slow zoom on William Hurt's
face. There's a guy sitting in the background at a table the whole time, not
listening, but reading, I think, with an unlit cigarette.
  Is that guy Paul Auster doing a little Hitchcock cameo?
  Maybe?
