Chris-
Not responding to you wanda post but knowing your into Vollman my
question is: have you read The Atlas? I saw him read here in NYC a
couple of weeks ago and I was amazed at how lame these pieces were. Some
scattershot grope at the heart of a Mexican boxer; some banal thing on a
neglected Japanese housewife; and the awfully grotesque (but strangely
dull) piece on a guy giving blood to a hooker tainted with HIV or
something. He rounded out the talk with a rather strange poem which at
least was better than the aforementioned.
I mean I was impressed with Fathers and Crows but could this be a case of
too much or gettting by on reputation? Not to mention Bradford Morrow's
rather self-satisfied introduction, the evening was quite depressing.
Didn't want to bore the Pynchos with this.
