Miller, Burroughs, Pynchon

I always liked Pynchon as compared to Burroughs or Miller (and their ilk)
in that Pynchon's work though grim seems to imbue every character (even
Them) with some kind of care or compassion.(which translates as the
reader will care) This is missing IMHO from Burroughs and Miller (Tropic
of Cancer I thought was infantile snobby and mean. Burroughs I won't
even get into-I can't get through any of his stuff) In fact I find the
same in Blood Meridian which got kinda tiresome after a while. Does
anyone else agree with this? Maybe I'm looking for a little milk to go
with the black coffee as I grow older. Maybe that's why I've come to
appreciate Vineland more and more.
