tp on cd

I'm new here so maybe this has been discussed....there was a small item in
the UK Guardian last week (I think, or was it the Independent?) saying that
Pynchon either had, or was going to, write sleeve notes for a release by a
NY rock band.... does anyone recall the name of the band (nobody obvious) or
know anything else about this? If not I'll go hunt through some back issues....
