Sokol, hoaxing, parody

Does anyone on this list read The American Scholar? (an effete intellectual
quarterly). There was an article in the Winter 1994 issue called Notes on
the Poststructural Code by one Bert O. States of UC/Santa Barbara (professor
of dramatic arts), full of mind-numbing Derrida-esqe jargon. It was pretty
funny and I though it was a parody of the genre, eg:

"Thus Lacan is not a sound but a library of ecrits, a labyrinth in whose
endless passages resounds the sonorous echo of the Unconscious itself. It
is as if these magical, musical, cabalistic phonations had been conjured by
poets to sweeten the discourse...."

Anyhow, nobody ever responded in the Letters to the Editor so I didn't find
out if the guy was kidding or not. It's good for a few laughs if your
library subscribes....
