The Octopus, of course, is yet another manifestation of Standard Oil, and 
it's many-tentacled links to the multinational cartels (including, IG 
Farben, of course, but also Seimens, Daimler-Benz, GE, Shell, BMW, 
Kontinental Oil, and on and on) that were enjoying
