Enjoyed and agree w/ your post.  I firmly believe that any idea can be expressed 
clearly, as are yours, for example, but I find blanket attacks on jargon (or 
wrong-minded ones such as Sokal's) too often to be about something other than 
what they say they are about.  After all, all Sokal proved, IMO, is that you can fool 
some of the people some of the time.  Hardly a revelation, eh? 

 I don't routinely read the LA TIMES (poor excuse for a paper, I think)--do you 
know if they carry Big George's column? What paper did you read it in?
