I'm been amazed for years at how stiff and unbending these "educated to
the max" types can be.

Oh yes. I was in graduate school (several times) so I know whereof I
speak.... you can't have a mindset that goes against the "grain" of the
current "top of the pops--Numbah One with a bullet" force majeur in
the musty groves of Academe. At least, openly.
