I saw the following on a Mr. Showbiz movie review of the new film Mother
Night and remembered the old thread about who could direct GR.
"Mother Night is a film of ideas, and when's the last time you saw
one of
those? Gordon, whose last movie was the seriously
underrated
adaptation of William Wharton's A Midnight Clear,
displays an odd
and sincere interest in both postmodern fiction and
World War II; in our
dreams, perhaps he'd be the man to film Gravity's
Rainbow. For the
meantime, let's be thankful there's a young filmmaker
out there interested
in something other than gangster clichés and Sundance
Audience
Awards. --Michael Atkinson
So I guess there's another candidate.
