I know you don't mean to, but this comes off as "I've read more
than you so my opinions have more weight," which is precisely what
grates on the non-academics, particularly on issues like feminism
which are essentially social in nature rather than quantitative.

This arguement won't generate a lot of sympathy.You made your choice,
hopefully with a full understanding of your employment options.
