Jess embodies both Roger's randomness (the "cute meet" is an accident
that
could follow a statistical distribution) and the psychic (she acts as a
medium
for Roger). TRP throws her psychic ability at us "*how does she
know*...-- know
so exactly what Roger meant to say?"

Also, there's a war on, & you know it won't last. This random event is
also
a moment of pyschic one-ness that counter's Roger's "cheap nihlism."
