Runcible spoons

Anyone interested in a scholarly disquisition, um, I mean an amusing and
somewhat snide (all in good fun, I'm sure, and in the author's usual and
expected style), but hey!, informative exposition on the eponymous eating
utensil, look at Cecil Adam's current _The Straight Dope_ column in your
local free weekly paper.  If you don't live in an area graced with its
presence (and TSD appears in only something like thirty papers around the
continent), point your Web browser at www.straightdope.com. 

After reading _Gravity's Rainbow_ I was curious.  My curiosity hasn't 
been entirely satisfied, but the column does illuminate the topic.
