Cain, Abel, and Shem...

Not to underrate Mr. Dinn's literary knowledge, but just to set straight
some Biblical chronology (izzat an oxymoron?): Abel and Cain, among
others, were Adam's sons, and there were a number of generations between
ol' Abel and Cain, those sonsabitches, and Noah, the progenitor of Shem
(father of the Arabs and Jews), Ham (father of the black Africans), and
Japheth (father of everyone else?). See Genesis 5-11 for information
concerning the lineage, the doubting of which will cause your eternal
damnation. ObPynchon: I'll bet TRP has spent some mental energy on the
whole issue of Noah's issue. It (meaning the whole "curse of Ham"
myth) goes partway towards understanding the foundations of European
racism contra Africans.
