Can't we all just get along?

Hey! The hive's been quite active since last time I checked in! (I've
been out warping young minds--pointing out the myriad ways we learn
racism, the good old American kind.) Thanks to David for pointing out that
the country's origins were in fact communitarian--as soon as I posted that
last message to the contrary, I caught my error. For an interesting read
on how a communitarian religious colony justified its turn towards
unabashed greed and individual corporate competition, see Andrew
Carngegie's "Gospel of Wealth." The title pretty much says it all... As
to whether you can count your local school as an example of a "village" or
not, I wouldn't expect to have to point out the absurdity of that. We are
not in a system that permits "village" operations anywhere, nor do I think
the "government" is the ideal source of overturning our current, damaging
metanarratives (hardly!). Hillary just mouthed the slogan--it's the idea
I am interested in, and at least so far, she gets more air time than me.
As for where I get this crap, John, you might remember our CWIP seminar
all those years ago--too much of what I heard during my liberal education
made too much sense for me to discount it. If that's "knee-jerking," so
be it, but it's been years of reading and study (oops, don't go there edu.
woman!) that transformed me into someone who wanted to rule the world into
someone who would just like corporate greedtrons to keep their poisons out
of our food. And congrats on hearing your kid goes to a bitchin' school.
