For me the `too' and `of course' serve to break up the sentence,
indicating not just one hesitation but two. I take this as indicating
that the speaker is still busy rationalizing the sentiment, indicating
that it is new and in an area in which the speaker is inexperienced
and uncertain of the lie of the land. That such reflection should
render the insight that `negroes shit too' into the banal conclusion
that `it must all look alike' says much about Slothrop's, hmm . . .
what word can I use here, . . . yeah Slothrop's socialization. `Boy,
he sure is all socialization ain't he?'
Which I find rather underlines the humour. But then I'm merely an
obnoxious boyl - look at the things I find funny (if we could transmit
noises around the net via e-mail doubtless I would have posted a fart
to all list members by now. Doubtless). Just call me Mr Snoyd.
