Michael G. says:
I believe TRP to be (l)ibertarian, but it does not necessarily
follow that he is (L)ibertarian. The word libertarian had a noble
etymology before being coopted by Randians, Hayekites, and
Friedmaniacs. TRP certainly acknowledges the existence of the
Invisible Hand but that doesn't have to be an endorsement of
predatory capitalism. Believing in a hurricane doesn't make one
pro-hurricane. In fact there is so much of GR that is
hypercritical of institutional capitalism.
The words "libertarian" and "captialism" seem to be favored by either
right-wing or left-wing idealogues. (no reflection on poster intended one
way or the other)
Reminds me somehow of the thing that came up the other day about
the similarily in view of Chomsky and Buchanan on something or other.
The use of "postmodern" and the felt need for the term seems to have a similar
ambidextrous character.
Just a thought.
